Who Is The Real Rotten Banana?

Has the issues surrounding the automatic throttling down of our Internet connection by the telcos have been resolved already?

With an alibi of trying to moderate abusive usage of Internet services, the Fair Usage Policy of telcos was implemented by force thus affecting all Internet users especially those that use a great deal of online access and file transfers. We are reduced to a 2G connection once we reached a certain monthly limit thus bringing us down to turtle-pace connection.

However, it seems the government has yet to enforce a stop to this.

The open letter was posted year 2014 but it still a very controversial topic that has not been addressed yet.

We are reposting it in full since the author, as an IT Specialist, really knows what he is saying.

So who is the real rotten banana out there? The 3% subscribers who have been called as "abusers"by these telcos, or the telcos themselves who has been deceiving us with their "Unlimited" and "Fair Usage Policies"breaching the contract between subscribers and ISP.

You be the judge.

Journalist Asks "Are Resident Doctors Really Doctors?"

A newspaper article reportedly coming from Mindanao Times' column Loud Whispers written by Fely Viloria Sicam, is getting attention on social media for seemingly maligning resident doctors who she called "fake" for being less courteous in attending to patients and for not speaking in the English language.  Many netizens, especially in the medical profession, are giving their own share of negative comments about the article and the writer herself.

Below are just some of the comments gathered from social media.

"To All my friends who are doctors, nurses, radtech and part of the medical allied professional.
Have you read this article?" - Tim Abrasax

"UP IN ARMS, medical community!!!

Does anyone know where and when this was supposedly published? While social media has its points, I believe in direct communication with someone who maligns our profession! Obviously, this so called writer does not understand our profession.... and quite frankly, reading her article, neither do her lofty thoughts of her command for English pass our standards. LOUD WHISPERS hmmph," - Ted Herbosa

"Up in arms! should not be the first nor the best response. Seek first to understand than to be understood. More of this people are just around, and more will come out. The first and the best response is internal: let's us ask ourselves, particularly as leaders in the medical community, why has it come to this?" - Gene Ramos

"I object to this lady writer's piece. Generalising is never a good thing. You only end up narrow minded or myopic in your views. A journalist is never biased. Only factual. Do not conclude that all doctors are the same and come from the same mold. Resident doctors are licensed to practice already. There are different situations for each patient and each healthcare provider. God forbid that you find yourself in dire straits and the only person who can give you the least amount of help is a resident physician. Good luck mam. Iba ung sinasabi ni senator miriam ikaw naman nakihitch ka na agad sa bandwagon. NOT GOOD" - Ana Oliveros Obrigado

Madonna to Touch PH for the Very First Time

OK, Philippine Daily Inquirer, we know what you did here. Lol!

If the headline sounds familiar, it's probably because it's a line in the lyrics of Madonna's song "Like a Virgin"

The American pop icon is scheduled to perform in Manila on February 24, 2016 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay city. This will really be the very first time the popular and sensational singer will be coming to the Philippines. I'm sure a lot of fans from our grandfathers to the current teens will flock the MOA Arena even if the ticket prices are staggering.

I love it when newspaper journalists have time to play with words. Instead of being recognized as writing flat, boring and so serious.

It is a fact that they can't used the word "I" in their write-ups except when they are writing in their columns because print media are designed not to be personal.

Many are saying they need to separate their personal interests, disgusts, admiration, etc., in favor of writing objectively.

But who's stopping them from getting creative with their writing.

Andrea Brillantes Scandal

"I have something to say as a reminder and this is for the people who keep on denouncing Andrea Brillantes, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." Respect her just like how you want to be respected. She's too young to be judged as reprobate. Wag magmalinis! Di po kayo janitor." - Reane Nillama
Apparently there are two types of people right now. Those who will ask for links to the video scandal so they can watch it for "educational viewing purposes," and those that would ask for respect for Andrea Brillantes and remembering her adorable roles in the many teleseryes and TV, movie appearances of the 12 year old girl.

Many are saying she's too young to experience such an situation right now, and this may lead to depression, worsts to probable suicide. But hold on, don't be too harsh. It is but natural for a tender age to explore her body. What I really don;t like is the video-taking part. Acts like these should remain private and not documented. This is not something that you want to post on YouTube or your social media account so why take a video even if its for personal viewing?

Risa Hontiveros' "Epal" Bus Ad

"I am a supporter of Risa Hontiveros because I believe in her and in her track record as a legislator. Pero, bali-baliktarin n’yo man ang mundo, EPAL act ito - kahit gawan pa ng criteria kung ano ang epal o hindi, like sabihing this is not an epal act because no government money was spent for this advertisement. Making lusot out of this criteria (kahit ipagpalagay nating totoo naman) ay lumang tugt...ugin na rin."
He continues with "Eh di ba we’ve heard of Trapo A, Trapo B o Trapo C before na nagpagawa ng streamer para sa Operation Tuli project nila bearing the logo of their offices at galing daw sa bulsa nila ang pinampa-imprenta ng mga tarps nila at wala daw silang ginastos ni singkong duling galing sa pondo ng bayan? In reality, wala namang paki ang mga tao kung epal ‘yan o hindi based on certain qualifications, kasi in the surface it is obviously looking epal. Ang sasabihin lang naman ng mga tao, umeepal ‘yan, akala ba namin galit siya sa epal? Perception wise, she is epal! This is an act of an epal that people are familiar about. Sa paningin ng mga tao ngayon, isa nang epal si Madam at wala na siyang ipinagkaiba sa mga pulitikong epal. ‘Yan na ang epekto nitong advertisement na ito. Na-erode ng slight ang credibility ni Madam! Huwag n’yong sasabihin na wala kayong paki sa kung ano ang sasabihin ng tao! It matters! Kaya kung sino man ang may idea nitong ka-epalan na ito, tumalon ka na sa building teh, dahil minus points si Madam sa eksena na ito. Hindi na puwedeng mag-anti epal campaign si Madam nang dahil sa ‘yo! Poeta ka, sana ikaw na lang kasi ang nag-pose teh! Buwahahaha! (Photo from FB)" - Glenford Leonillo

Archie Comics Reboot Is Now Available

"The reboot is out!!! I got a 1 year subscription through archiecomics.com but you can now get an electronic copy on google play!!!" #archie #archiefan #archiecomics #archiereboot
Archie Andrews from Riverdale of the popular Archie comics which also features Veronica, Betty, Jughead, plus a few other characters are rebooted into a new series.

You'll notice he looks a lot like pop artist Justin Bieber, not that we're complaining but it might be more than just a coincidence. Will the look make it more realistic for our boy to have two girls mooning over him?

Mark Waid, best known for his work on superhero comics, and artist Fiona Staples, best known for her gorgeous and intense work on Image Comics' Saga, were responsible in rebooting the boy from Riverdale.

So you may want to forget everything you knew about the Archie comics story and get ready to read revised stories from the artists.

The one year subscription at archiecomics.com is about 40+ usd plus 13+ usd shipping fee...so that's around 160php per issue. At Google play, the e-copy is 178php, You may prefer the hard copy if you want pages you can actually flip.

Below are some more images so you would have an idea what the comic looks like.

Falling Off the Manila Skyway

"Very close call as this Strada is hanging in the balance on the rails of the Skyway. Thank God it didn't fall off like some have in the past. Drive extra carefully, folks. Build in more allowances for the crazy weather. Feel free to share it. The awareness alone could save a life. Photo by: Elbert Cuenca." - James Deakin
News report says that the Strada blew its front tire. Betcha that thing hydroplaned. Thick (wide) tyres are only effective on wet roads to a certain degree. Beyond that, it's an elephant on roller skates.

Looking at the wheel and tire set-up, it looks like they were changed to low profile tires, which are not suitable for pick-ups. It may look good, but it is not safe. Good thing its rear dangled over the guard rail, not the engine side. Few more inches, it would have been a different story."

The people managing the Skyway confirms that the railings of the Skyway structure follows international standards though what is prevalent in these accidents is realizing its the people who is not following International driving standards.

Speed limits are often ignored, hazard lights are not being used in heavy rain situations.

The highways in Japan are elevated and have double walls/railings higher than the vehicles. Knowing that our skyway has low railings and that roads are slippery especially during the rainy season, drivers should drive carefully.
